The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) George Tarjan, MD, Award for Contributions in Developmental Disabilities recognizes a child and adolescent psychiatrist and AACAP member who has made significant contributions in a lifetime career or single seminal work to the understanding or care of those with developmental disabilities. These contributions must have national and/or international stature and clearly demonstrate lasting effects and may be in areas of teaching, research, program development, direct clinical service, advocacy, or administrative commitment. To be considered for the scholarship, psychiatrists must be nominated (via nomination letter) and nominators must submit a CV and any support materials for the individual or organization nominated. Each year, one (1) nominee will be awarded $1,000 for their contributions to the developmental disabilities field. Keep on reading to learn more!

The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) aims to promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research, and to meet the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists throughout their careers.
This scholarship is open to students who meet the eligibility criteria below:
