Top baseball and softball scholarships overall

The following scholarships have been selected based on their reputation and also the applicability to a wide range of students. Here’s our top 2 scholarships for baseball and softball overall:

    • Dixie Youth Scholarship Program – Open to high school seniors who have participated in a Dixie Youth Baseball (DYB) program when they were twelve years old or younger. Worth $2,000!
    • American Legion Baseball Scholarship – Open to high school seniors who are selected by a Department Baseball Committee member. Awards range from $500 to $5,000.

    How to win baseball scholarships

    Find local scholarships

It’s important to remember that many athletic scholarships are available on more local levels, rather than national levels. That being said, one of the best ways to find out about local athletic scholarships is to inquire through your coaches or high school guidance counselors.

    Inquire about college scouting

This is also a good time to start thinking about whether or not you’d like to pursue playing baseball or softball at a collegiate level. Depending whether you’re recruited on a D1, D2, or D3 team, you may receive an athletic scholarship for playing for your school.

Also read: What does a D1, D2, and D3 Athlete Mean?

    Polish up your writing skills

Many scholarships, even athletic scholarships, have a writing component, whether that be an essay or a scholarship resume. In preparation for applying to scholarships, check out some of our essay writing guides to start warming up your writing muscles. Some of our most popular guides include:

Resources for student baseball and softball players

    My Next Play

My Next Play is an organization that connects student athletes, more specifically baseball and softball players, with recruiters and helps them make a plan to play sports in college. This is a great resource for students looking to learn more about the recruiting process for baseball and softball.

    Rise 2 Greatness

Rise 2 Greatness is a foundation that provides assistance to underserved student athletes. They provide financial assistance for players to attend tournaments and showcases, which can be great exposure for students looking to get recruited for college.

Pitch in for Baseball and Softball

PIFBS sources like used baseball and softball equipment for students who can not afford to buy new sports gear. This allows many students to play baseball by removing one of the more costly financial barriers of the sport.

Frequently asked questions about baseball and softball scholarships

Can you get a full scholarship for baseball or softball?

Yes, but this typically means that you have been recruited to play baseball or softball for a certain school, and in return you receive a full scholarship.

What are the odds of being recruited to play at college?

Playing at a college level is typically much more competitive than playing at a high school level. Because of this, getting recruited typically requires the student to be athletically excellent at their sport. D1 teams are typically the most difficult to get recruited to, but also come with the most benefits, such as nice facilities to play in, a larger support system, and typically full scholarships.

What age do recruiters start looking at players?

Believe it or not, the college recruiting process can start as early as middle school! But typically, the discourse between players and recruiters mostly takes place late sophomore year and throughout their junior year of high school.
