- Duquesne offers academic scholarships up to $30k/year, several full-tuition and full-financial-need scholarships and PA State Grant Match program for eligible residents.
- Endowed scholarships, micro-scholarships, ROTC scholarships and other opportunities are available.
- We invest $90 million in our undergraduate students each year through University-based scholarships, and total aid from all sources exceeds $195 million.

Scholarships Overview
From Duquesne
All first-year applicants are automatically considered for academic scholarships (up to $30k per year). Several additional scholarships are available, including full-tuition and full financial need opportunities.
Incoming students can also be considered for several endowed scholarships based upon achievements, academic interest and more. Many scholarships are renewable annually for up to eight semesters/four years of study and are awarded in addition to any academic scholarships as well as other state and federal aid. Endowed scholarships include:
- Louis B. Mallet Endowed Scholarship – provides scholarship support for one incoming first-year student who: will enroll in the School of Business, meets academic eligibility, and has financial need (as determined by the FAFSA).
- Dr. Thomas F. and Norma Weir Endowed Scholarship – offers up to $10,000 per year to an exceptional incoming first-year student pursuing a degree in Chemistry or Nursing at Duquesne. This prestigious award recognizes academic achievements, financial need and commitment to chosen field.

Duquesne University Financial Aid
To apply for financial aid at Duquesne you’ll need to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as well as the CSS Profile.
The FAFSA and CSS Profile use financial information from the prior, prior year. That means you can submit the forms even if you or your parents haven’t filed last year’s taxes.

Using State Grants at Duquesne
Pennsylvania residents considering Duquesne should be sure to look at Pennsylvania state grant programs. Two of the biggest educational grant programs in PA are PHEAA and TIP. PHEAA offers funding for Pennsylvania students who are enrolled at least half-time in an institution and program approved by PHEAA. Students must meet certain academic and financial criteria in order to qualify. TIP, also known as PA-TIP, offers funding to students pursuing a degree in a field that the state designates as high-demand. Here are those fields in 2024:

The federal government awards Pell Grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need by filling out the FAFSA. Students with a bachelor’s or professional degree are not eligible. Admissions Overview

Duquesne University students represent 50 states and more than 50 countries. Apply via Common App, Duquesne’s Future-Focused App, or Coalition x Scoir App. Many students save time and money through generous AP and IB credit opportunities.
Duquesne University reviews applications holistically, taking into consideration qualities of academic preparation (which includes rigor of course work, class standings, and grades), extracurricular activities, leadership potential, the potential for adding a unique perspective, individual talents, character, and recommendations if provided. As a part of the application process applicants must submit all official high school transcripts and college transcripts, if applicable. All high school students should request that their current senior year grades and coursework be included on their official transcripts. Applicants may choose to submit a
Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) but will still need to submit an official transcript to be officially admitted to the University.
If you do not have SAT or ACT scores or believe your scores do not reflect your academic achievement and ability to be successful at Duquesne, you may choose to apply as a test-optional candidate. We consider factors like high school curriculum, academic achievement, demonstrated leadership ability, extracurricular involvement and volunteer experience when determining who will benefit from a Duquesne education and contribute to our vibrant community of learners. Applicants considered for test-optional admission generally have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of enrollment.

Coalition Colleges
Duquesne is a Coalition Member College, which means they have completed a vigorous vetting process from the Coalition for College to ensure that they “provide substantial support to lower-income, under-resourced and/or first-generation students; offer responsible student financial aid; and demonstrate a commitment to student graduation.” That also means you can apply to Duquesne via the Coalition Application. The Coalition Application makes it easy to obtain application fee waivers if you qualify.
