Competitive tuition costs for out-of-state students never exceed 25% above in-state rates.
Nearly everyone qualifies for financial aid, whether you’re a first-time college student or transferring to WMU. Scholarships, loans, grants, and work-study options are available. Additionally, WMU prioritizes affordability for military-affiliated individuals. Eligible veterans receive in-state tuition, and those who’ve honorably served or are currently in the Reserve or Active Components of the US Armed Forces also benefit.
The Seita Scholars Program, embedded within a broader initiative, aims to transform the college-going experience for youth in the foster care system. This campus-based support program offers holistic coaching and tailored programming to college students with lived experience in foster care. WMU takes a holistic approach to evaluating student applications. If you’re a first-year student, you can apply to WMU through the Common Application. Notably, WMU is a test-optional institution, which means that SAT and ACT scores are not required for admission consideration. Furthermore, these scores do not impact the merit awards offered by the institution.
As one of the top aviation schools in the country, WMU has a competitive admission process. Additionally, we offer direct admission to our Bronson School of Nursing. If you’re interested in either of these programs, make sure to submit your application and supplemental materials by December 15 of the year before your desired entry term (e.g., December 15, 2024, for Fall 2025 entry).
