    Auburn University recognizes the importance of a quality education and are dedicated to helping you find a way to achieve your higher education goals. A number of scholarships are awarded annually by the Office of University Scholarships. In addition, departmental scholarships are awarded each year to new and current students by the various colleges on campus.

    Competitive Merit Scholarships

    Scholarships are awarded competitively. Consideration does not guarantee an award. Each entering class competes with itself. Actual awards are determined based on the number of qualified admitted students, the credentials of those applicants, and available funding.

    General and Departmental Scholarships

    General scholarships are awarded by the Office of University Scholarships. Departmental scholarships are awarded by the academic colleges. While new and current Auburn University students receive consideration for general and departmental scholarships, most general scholarships are awarded to incoming students, and most departmental scholarships are awarded to current students.

    External Scholarships

    External scholarships are awarded by employers, companies, foundations, and professional associations independently of Auburn University. Criteria for external scholarships vary greatly from scholarship to scholarship, but generally include academic performance, financial need, personal or community affiliations, or other unique criteria important to the sponsoring organization.
