The 2026 Southwest University Scholarship supports graduating seniors from the El Paso Independent School District who are pursuing career-focused education at Southwest University.
This scholarship is intended for students enrolling in high-demand, hands-on programs that lead to workforce readiness or continued academic advancement, including healthcare, skilled trades, automotive and diesel technology, welding, culinary arts, and related applied fields.
Recipients are selected based on academic effort, motivation, leadership potential, and commitment to completing their education. The scholarship prioritizes students who are intentionally choosing practical career pathways that strengthen both their future and the regional workforce.
The El Paso Independent School District Education Foundation is a non–profit organization whose main purpose is providing Classroom Impact Grants to teachers and scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our wonderful school district. Since its inception in 1994, our organization has provided more than a million dollars for these programs thanks to the commitment and investment of dedicated community and business partners.
In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria listed below, applicants must meet the following requirements:
1. Applicants must commit to enrolling at Southwest University in El Paso, Texas.
2. Applicants must register in the following SWU programs: Bachelor of Education, Associates of Applied Science in Culinary Arts, or Ophthalmology, or Dental Assisting, or Automotive Technology, or Diesel Technology, or Medical Coding and Billing Systems, or Medical Lab Technology, or Nursing. Or a certificate in Welding.
3. Applicants must meet all graduation requirements as specified by EPISD policy and set forth by the State of Texas by June of their graduation year (i.e. credits, EOC, etc.).
4. Applicants must have been enrolled the final two years (junior and senior year) of his/her education at an EPISD high school.
5. Applicants must be accepted for enrollment by an accredited college or university.
6. Applicants must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours in the Fall of 2026.
