Semester at Sea is a unique program allowing students to study abroad and visit numerous countries all via cruise ship. While the opportunity is an amazing one, students may encounter difficulties affording the costs associated with the program. Luckily, if you’re an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) or PBI (Predominantly Black Institutions) student interested in Semester at Sea, they’re offering the perfect oportunity for you: the Semester at Sea HBCU Scholarship!
To qualify for the $10,000 scholarship, individuals must be full-time undergraduates at HBCUs or PBIs who have been accepted to a Semester at Sea program. Applicants must also demonstrate leadership through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities. All program participants will be granted a full semester’s worth of undergraduate credits (or the equivalent) from Colorado State University, the original creator of the Semester at Sea program.

Semester at Sea is a study-abroad program founded in 1963 and managed by the Institute for Shipboard Education in Fort Collins, Colorado. They offer a variety of study abroad voyage in which students travel and live aboard a cruise ship.
