Offered by Community Foundation of Hancock County
Vera S. was a Greenfield, Indiana native who would go on to receive a business degree from IUPUI, serve as executive secretary at Navistar, and marry Robert Maxwell. Before her passing, she designated the Community Foundation of Hancock County as the beneficiary of her trust. Thus, the Robert W. and Vera S. Maxwell Scholarship was established in honor of her, and her husband’s, memory and generosity.
Each year, the scholarship awards $3,190 to two (2) graduating students of Greenfield-Central High School who have a seventh-semester minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. Selection will be based on contributions to the community through community service, leadership activities, and outstanding citizenship. Two scholarships will be given in equal amounts: one to the top male applicant and one to the top female applicant.
