    Scholarship Overview

    Government workers are an essential part of society, from working as teachers in public schools to preventing disasters as firefighters. Thus, the Broward Community Foundation offers the Ralph H. And Ruth Frank Gross Memorial Scholarship to Florida residents who are either full-time government employees in Broward County, Florida, or their relatives.

    Awarding between $500 and $2,500 per student, the scholarship was established in honor of Ruth and Frank Gross, two people who believed in the value of a good education. To be eligible, applicants must reside in Florida, plan to attend an in-state university, and be a government employee in Broward County, Florida, or a child or spouse/former spouse of one. Those who are related to Broward County employees who were left disabled or deceased in the line of duty are also eligible to apply.

    In addition to the below materials, all applicants must submit verification that they/their relative served as a Broward County employee, proof of their Florida residency, and their/their guardian's most recent tax return. On top of that, graduating high school senior applicants must submit their official high school transcripts and SAT score(s).
