    Scholarship Overview

The Pan American Round Table Scholarship for Second Chances was established for the exclusive purpose of providing scholarships and/or grants to women who are returning to pursue a degree in healthcare or education at one of the following public institutions of higher education: University of Texas at El Paso, El Paso Community College, or Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center-El Paso.

The Pan American Round Table of El Paso, Texas, was founded in November of 1921, by Mrs. Eugenia M. Schuster who became its first Director. She invited women from here in El Paso, Texas, and from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to establish the first group of active members. Her guiding vision was to advance greater awareness of international and border issues; that unique vision and binational representation remain true today.

Currently, the El Paso Table has an active membership of 150 from the United States and Mexico and remains the only Table out of 200 to embrace members from two countries. Our international affiliates include over 4,600 women from 200 individual Tables representing 17 countries in the Alliance of Pan American Round Tables of the Americas. This unique sisterhood has demonstrated an enduring commitment to transnational friendship, understanding and cooperation for nearly 108 years since the first Table was organized in San Antonio, Texas, on October 16, 1916.

Our members are honored to be part of this beautiful community of philanthropy and look forward to awarding funds, in perpetuity, to deserving women. Through our Pan American Round Table Scholarship for Second Chances, we seek to support women who have been dealt challenges in life that prevent them from finishing their education. We hope our financial support inspires our scholarship recipients to return to and complete their academic pursuit of careers in healthcare.
