    Scholarship Overview

    Are you a South Carolina high school senior looking to attend an in-state college or university? If so, you may be in luck!

    The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is awarded annually to college-bound, academically impressive South Carolina high school seniors planning to attend an eligible in-state university (see “Eligibility Information for the full list of qualifying schools). In addition, applicants must meet one of the following: (a) have scored a minimum 1200 SAT/25 ACT, have a GPA of 3.5 or above, and have ranked in the top 6% of their graduating class, OR (b) have scored a minimum 1400 SAT/31 ACT and have earned a GPA of 4.0 or above.

    Recipients of the scholarship may receive up to $6,700 in their first academic year, and up to $7,500 every year thereafter. Those majoring in a STEM field may also qualify for the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship Enhancement and receive an additional $2,500 per academic year. The scholarship may be renewed for up to eight terms upon the maintenance of certain eligibility criteria (3.0+ GPA, enroll in 30+ credit hours each academic year, maintain SC residency).

    About South Carolina Commission on Higher Education

    The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education was established in 1967 and serves as the coordinating board for South Carolina’s 33 public institutions of higher learning. In addition to partnering with institutions to deliver an effective statewide higher education system, the CHE acts as an oversight entity on behalf of the General Assembly, and as an advocate for South Carolina residents as they seek "opportunities to improve their lives, and those of their families, through higher education."
