Offered by mikeroweWORKS Foundation
From 2003 to 2012, Mike Rowe hosted the television series Dirty Jobs, in which he would accompany individuals who worked either messy, strange, or difficult “occupational duties” on a full day of work. Through his time on the show, Mike developed immense respect for such individuals, who often did strenuous labor or completed typically “undesirable” tasks as part of their very necessary, but oftentimes undervalued, jobs. As a result, Mike generously offers the Mike Rowe Work Ethic Scholarship Program, meant to support the higher education of those looking to attend trade school, like many of the individuals on Dirty Jobs likely did.
Each year, the scholarship is awarded to trade school students in a variety of fields. Eligible fields include, but are not limited to, the automotive trades, construction, cosmetology, the culinary arts, electrical technology, and more. To apply, interested students must sign the S.W.E.A.T. Pledge and submit a 1-minute video, two (2) references, their transcript, and their most recent 1040 tax form.
If you’re pursuing trade school and believe in the value of hard work, we encourage you to apply! Then, be sure to check out these trade school scholarships. Happy applying!

The mikeroweWORKS Foundation was established in 2008 by Mike Rowe out of a belief in the importance of skilled labor in a world which increasingly "devalues any other path to success and happiness" in favor of a four-year degree. The Foundation has a mission to "help close the skills gap by challenging the stigmas and stereotypes that discourage people from pursuing the millions of available jobs." They're on a path to redefine what a "good education" and "good job" are, and hope to increase public understanding of the "the impact of skilled labor on their lives."
