Offered by Lummi Indian Business Council
The Lummi are a federally recognized Native American tribe who, historically, before settling in what is now Whatcom County of Washington state, could be traced back to the San Juan Islands. The tribe currently consists of approximately 5,000 members, and, since the late 20th century, has been actively working to “revive elements of its traditional culture” while uplifting its members to pursue their goals. For this reason, the Lummi Indian Business Council is generously offering Higher Education Grants to support its members in pursuit of post-secondary schooling!
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be Lummi Nation members who are enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment in an accredited institution and have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Community college, four-year college, and graduate school students are eligible to earn up to $6,000, $7,200, and $8,400 per year, respectively. If this sounds like a good opportunity for you, we encourage you to apply!
