Offered by The Luckyday Foundation at UM
Establishing himself as a leader of finance and banking, Frank Rogers Day was a Mississippi native who would go on to serve as CEO of Trustmark National Bank, eventually transforming it into the largest bank in the state. Beyond his career in banking, he was also a generous philanthropist, forming the Luckyday Foundation in 1978 as a means to “provide college scholarships to Mississippi residents.” To continue his legacy, the Foundation established the Luckyday Scholars Program at the University of Mississippi in 2001.
To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors residing in Mississippi who plan to enroll in the University of Mississippi. Applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA to be considered. In addition to supporting each student with up to $24,000 in scholarship aid over four years, the program will provide recipients “opportunities for personal and professional growth, connection to a robust community of scholars, significant service experiences, and intentional leadership development.”
Bear in mind that becoming a Luckyday Scholar also requires the fulfillment of specific requirements each year, such as 10+ volunteer hours per semester, attending general semester meetings, and more. If you’re interested in discovering similar scholarships, we encourage you to explore these other scholarships for Mississippi residents. Happy applying!
