Offered by Weld Community Foundation
Weld County, Colorado holds several records. Besides being one of the richest agricultural counties domestically, and the richest agricultural county east of the Rocky Mountains, it is also the third-largest county in all of Colorado. Today, nearly 330,000 residents lovingly call it home. Leoma Hunter was one of these residents. Due to her love for her community and belief in the importance of education, a scholarship was established in her memory to help Weld County youth afford higher education.
To qualify for the Leoma Hunter Scholarship, individuals must be graduating seniors at a public high school in Weld County or a homeschooled high school senior residing in Weld County, Colorado (excluding Greeley School District). Applicants must also have a minimum 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational school. Each year, recipients will be chosen to earn $2,000 – $2,500 to go towards their post-secondary education.
