Workplace incidents, no matter their level of severity, can have a devastating effect on a family. Beyond the emotional impact, it may also affect a family’s financial security. To help families who have been affected by such tragedies, the Kids’ Chance of Maine Scholarship was established to help the children of workers who have been left badly injured or deceased in workplace incidents.
To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be the dependent of a worker left seriously injured or deceased in a work-related accident or occupational disease with an employer over whom the Maine Workers’ Compensation Board has jurisdiction. Applicants must also be between the ages of 16 and 22 and have been accepted to or be enrolled in a college or technical school.
Recipients selected for the reward may earn between $1,000 and $5,000 to go towards their education, depending upon a student’s financial need. To find other scholarships you may be eligible for, we recommend checking out our other Maine scholarships and need-based scholarships. Good luck with your scholarship search!
