Offered by Kansas Board of Regents
All across the country, there is a demand for workers in critical need industries that help keep society running. While there may be slight regional variation in these, some consistent ones across the United States include healthcare, mass transit/transportation, and utilities. To encourage Kansas natives to pursue such important fields in the state, the Kansas Board of Regents is kindly offering the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship!
Open to Kansas residents pursuing a “critical need” two-year degree or certification at an in-state program, the Kansas Promise Act Scholarship is a “last dollar” scholarship, meaning it covers the remaining schooling fees required after other financial aid is subtracted. To qualify, students must have graduated from a Kansas high school sometime within the past year and be pursuing an eligible ‘high wage, high demand, or critical need” field. In exchange for receiving scholarship assistance, recipients must commit to living and working in Kansas for two consecutive years following graduation.
If this sounds like a good opportunity for you, we encourage you to apply and check out these other trade school scholarships, community college scholarships, and Kansas scholarships! Bear in mind that the Promise Act Scholarship runs three times a year, with deadlines for the Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters falling in March, July, and October, respectively. Happy applying!

In addition, the Board administers the state’s student financial aid, adult education, high school equivalency, and career and technical education programs.
