    Scholarship Overview

    The JRS Foundation Essay Contest Scholarship supports graduating seniors from New Haven public high schools who are ready to continue their education at an accredited college, university, or vocational school. Offered by the Jacqueline R. Satchell Foundation, this scholarship is designed to invest in young leaders from underserved communities and celebrate students who have a meaningful story to share. Applicants must submit an original essay responding to the annual prompt, “Why My Story Matters.” Each year, three winners are selected: the first-place recipient receives a $1,000 scholarship and a personalized engraved award, while the second- and third-place winners receive personalized engraved awards recognizing their achievement.
