    Scholarship Overview

Studying abroad is an amazing opportunity for young college students to explore the world, immerse themselves in another culture, and make life-long relationships with friends across the globe. If you’re a college-aged student hoping to study in a foreign country, IES Abroad is here to help you make these dreams a reality! Besides offering nearly 140 study abroad programs in different locales and focusing on unique fields of study, they also offer a scholarship to help aspiring study abroad students afford their programs.

To qualify for the scholarship, interested students must either be planning to apply to an IES Study Abroad program or have already been accepted to one. Then, they must complete IES Abroad’s “quick and easy aid application” that allows them to apply online for nearly all of their scholarship and aid opportunities at once. The organization uses a High-Impact Aid Commitment to distribute financial aid, which increases “accessibility to study abroad for historically underrepresented students and those with high financial need.”

If you’re looking to study abroad and need financial aid to do so, we encourage you to apply! Then, check out these other study abroad scholarships available on Scholarships360. Bon voyage!

    About IES Abroad

IES Abroad was first launched in 1950 when their first set of study abroad students boarded a ship to Vienna, Austria. This group, including newlyweds Clarence and Alberta Giese, would go on to spend a year in the Austrian capital. Upon returning, the couple was so moved by their trip that they sold everything they owned to help Mr. Koutny, who led the trip, to bring another group of students to Vienna. They would continue this for many years, and today, more than 70 years later, the IES Abroad experience still elicits the same response from students as it did in 1950: that it irrevocably changed their lives.
