Offered by University of Redlands
In 2014, Richard and Virginia Hunsaker from the U of R alumni class of 1952, donated an incredibly generous $35 million sum to establish the Hunsaker Scholarship Prize. The scholarship program aims to fund a Redlands education for students who will not only become societal leaders, but who will follow the Hunsakers’ example by giving back to their communities and the University.
To qualify for the scholarship, individuals must be incoming U of R freshmen who exhibit outstanding academic achievement, leadership and contributions to their schools and communities. Eight (8) recipients will be awarded the scholarship each year, being awarded between $7,000 and one’s total cost of attendance, depending on their financial need (using data from the FAFSA). Finalists who interview for the scholarship will receive an additional $2,000.
Beyond the monetary reward, Hunsaker Scholars will be invited to engage in leadership and professional development opportunities, such as an expenses-paid networking trip to a major metropolitan city where Scholars meet with alumni leaders in a variety of fields.
