Known for being home to Tyler, the “Rose Capital of America,” Smith County, Texas’ famous rose garden features 14 acres of 300 varieties of rose bushes and 600 beds. Besides its roses, the county is also home to a quite sizable population, nearing 250,000 residents. If you are a graduating high school senior lucky enough to rose-ide in this beautiful county with plans to attend college in-state, the East Texas Communities Foundation may be offering the perfect opportunity for you!
Each year, their Faulconer Scholarship awards $5,000 each to graduating seniors from a high school in the Tyler Independent School District in Smith County, Texas. Applicants must also be ethnic or racial minorities, hold a GPA between 2.0 and 3.5, and have plans to attend a college or university in Texas. Interested students must submit a completed application and FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) to be considered for the renewable scholarship.
