Offered by Community Foundation of Hancock County
Esther Barnhart Cook was a lifelong elementary school teacher in Indiana passionate about helping local students achieve and succeed in higher education. To this objective, she set up the Esther Barnhart Cook Scholarship through her estate to provide financial support to local high school seniors and college students with similar dreams. With that said, if you’re an Eastern Hancock High School senior or graduate who is or will be enrolling in Ball State University, this scholarship may be a great fit for you!
In addition to graduating from Eastern Hancock High School in Charlottesville, Indiana, and attending Ball State University, applicants must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. Selection of recipients will be primarily based on their essays and financial need. However, strong consideration will also be placed on how much applicants want to work with children – especially those who struggle academically. Each year, one applicant will receive the $5,860 scholarship.
