Nicknamed the Lone Star State, Texas is perhaps best known for its association with cowboy culture, its grand size, and large variety of cities, landscapes, and cultures. If you’re a Texas native and plan to stay in-state for your undergraduate education, you may be in luck! Each year, the Communities Foundation of Texas offers $2,000 scholarships specifically for Texas locals!
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be graduating seniors or college students either currently residing in or who are past graduates of a high school in Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Johnson, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, or Wise Counties. They must also either be currently enrolled in or plan to enroll in a baccalaureate degree program in Texas. While high school applicants must have a minimum 3.5 GPA, college applicants may have a 3.0 or higher GPA. All applicants must, however, have a minimum SAT score of 960 or an ACT score of 18.
