Scholarship Overview

The Distinguished Raven FAC Memorial Scholarship annually awards between $500 and $2,500 to 10-12 descendants or legal wards of any Lao or Hmong individual who served in the Royal Laotian Military or Hmong forces in defense of the Kingdom of Laos between 1960 and 1975. Applicants must be current and incoming undergraduate students who will be enrolled full-time in the coming academic year in a program of studies leading to a Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree at an accredited college, junior college, or university OR a Technical/Trade School in the United States. This assistance is intended to encourage the individuals to further their education and to reward the qualities that the Ravens and Laotian/Hmong forces admire.

About Edgar Allen Poe Literary Society

The Edgar Allen Poe Literary Society is a nonprofit, "last-man" veteran organization consisting of forward air controllers (FAC), who lived in Laos and flew under the call sign "Raven" or "Butterfly" between 1966 and 1973.
