Offered by East Texas Communities Foundation
Chemistry presents itself in every aspect of our lives, whether we realize it or not. From heating up water, to washing our hands with soap, and even the way that we digest food, chemistry is an unbelievably important aspect of our lives. As a field, chemistry discusses the properties of substances, the processes and changes they undergo, and the natural laws that cause these changes. If you’re an East Texas student who finds the field of chemistry fascinating and hopes to study it in college, the East Texas Communities Foundation may have just the opportunity for you!
Their David G. and Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Scholarship in Chemistry annually awards $3,000 to graduating, East Texas high school seniors who plan to study chemistry in college. Applicants must also have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and hail from one of the following counties to be eligible: Anderson, Angelina, Bowie, Camp, Cass, Cherokee, Delta, Franklin, Freestone, Gregg, Harrison, Henderson, Hopkins, Houston, Lamar, Leon, Marion, Morris, Nacogdoches, Panola, Rains, Red River, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby, Smith, Titus, Trinity, Upshur, Van Zandt, or Wood.
