D.J. Sokol was a passionate young man whose life was unfortunately cut short at age 18 after a tough battle with cancer. In his honor, his parents established a scholarship to “ensure that D.J.’s selflessness and his kindness and compassion toward others would live on beyond his passing.” If you, like D.J., are a community-minded, talented, and strong high school senior from Nebraska, the D.J.’s Hero Scholarship may be a great fit for you.
To qualify for the $12,000 scholarship, individuals must be graduating high school seniors from Nebraska who are planning to pursue post-secondary education. They must also have overcome adversity and demonstrate good leadership in their community. If you’re a Nebraska high school who shares D.J.’s traits of resilience, kindness, and generosity, we encourage you to apply.
