Continuing to persevere despite obstacles in your way is one of the bravest things one can do, especially when applying to and/or attending college. For this reason, College Jumpstart offers the $1,000 College JumpStart Show Grit Scholarship!
The scholarship is open to 10th-12th graders in high school or current undergraduates who have “demonstrated grit and who continue to push themselves in spite of obstacles or challenges.” To apply, interested students must submit a ~250-word essay about “challenges they have faced and how they’ve demonstrated grit to get to where they are.” However, if this topic doesn’t speak to you, applicants may also write about any topic of their choice.

College JumpStart Scholarship is an organization that arose from the question: “How can we help students in the future fulfill their dreams of going to college?” The founders believed that if they were willing to pay it forward by starting the scholarship program, others would too. Knowing that students graduate with an average of almost $30,000 in student loan debt, they established their scholarship programs as a way to reverse this trend and reward students who demonstrate a love of learning.
