Dr. Carol Strip Whitney has taught gifted children for 45 years and believes in the abilities of gifted children to make the world a better place. She established this scholarship to help fund the educational goals of young people aspiring to be among the next generation of leaders.
To be eligible for this $2,000 scholarship, applicants must be residents of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, or Ohio who are graduating high school seniors or current college students. High school seniors must have a minimum 3.75 GPA and college students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Candidates must participate in extracurricular activities, demonstrate high moral character, and be considered gifted, as denoted by the parent ID letter from their school district. Students who are homeschooled or from districts that do not issue letters may submit documentation indicating an IQ of 130 or above from a licensed psychologist.
