The Andrew York Memorial Scholarship was established by Chelan County PUD employees to honor their co-worker, Andrew York, who tragically lost his life in an accident. This scholarship aims to enhance public education and raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of seat belt use.
This $2,000 scholarship is offered to high school seniors who reside in Washington state. Applicants must be active in their school or community in providing awareness to prevent impaired or distracted driving caused by influences such as drug, alcohol, marijuana use, or texting. Preference is given to students who are children or grandchildren of IBEW Local 77 members, and eligibility is open regardless of financial need.
