The American Legion Hopewell Memorial Post 146 Scholarship Endowment was established in July 2013 to honor Mr. Barbee, a dedicated member for over 20 years. This scholarship aims to honor the legacy of all members of the American Legion Hopewell Memorial Post 146, particularly Mr. Barbee, for his commitment to the community and his many years of service to both the country and the post.
To be eligible for this $2,000 scholarship, applicants must reside in Hopewell, Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Prince George County, Dinwiddie County, or Chesterfield County in Virginia. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and priority may be given to students who are the child or grandchild of a Member or Auxiliary Member of the American Legion Hopewell Memorial Post 146.
