beThe Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship is a scholarship for high school and middle school students that is sponsored by Unigo. In addition to offering scholarships, Unigo provides resources for students who are going through the admissions process. This scholarship is open until Halloween, which is appropriate for the subject matter! Have fun with this one!
Who is eligible to apply to the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship?
To be eligible applicants must be:
- Thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of application
- Legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia
- Currently enrolled (or enroll no later than the fall of 2027) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education (this means that students can be in high school or middle school when they apply for the scholarship).
How do students apply for the scholarship?
This scholarship is a “mini essay” scholarship that asks students to submit an online short written response (250 words or less). The specific prompt is:
“Imagine that your high school/college has been overrun with Zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria ladies and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Use your brain to flesh out a plan to avoid the Zombies, including where you would hide and the top 5 things you would bring with you to stay alive.”
Students can have a lot of fun with this essay and should try to show off their creativity!
How much is the Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship worth?
According to the website, one successful “survivor” will receive $2,000 towards his or her college education!
When is the scholarship application due?
The deadline to apply is October 31, 2020, coinciding with Halloween of course! The Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship winner will be notified by email or phone on or around January 31, 2021.
