According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, young people spend an average of 7.5 hours a day consuming media–and this doesn’t include computer use for schoolwork. With technology always at the ready at your fingertips, it can be a challenge to unplug. But taking a break from technology is healthy for both the mind and body. Who is eligible to apply for the Technology Addiction Awareness Scholarship?
In order to be eligible, you must be a high school freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior or a current or entering college or graduate school student of any level. Home schooled students are also eligible to apply. There is no age limit for applicants, but you must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
How do I apply for this scholarship?
This is a fun scholarship to apply for! Applicants simply complete the application form found online and also write a a 140-character message about technology addiction. The prompt for this year is:

As you can see, applicants can be as creative as they choose! So, fire up your fingers and start creating that message!
After all the 140 character messages are reviewed, the top 10 applications will be selected as finalists. The finalists will be asked to write a full length 500- to 1,000-word essay about technology addiction for a chance at being the award winner.
How much is the scholarship worth?
The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship.
