Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship
Each year, the local branches of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) offer scholarships for high school seniors who will be attending a two or four-year college. Since 1985, Ronald McDonald House Charities has awarded more than 60 million dollars in scholarships!
How does the RMHC Scholarship Program work?
RMHC Scholarships are for students in the US who live in areas where there are participating local Ronald McDonald House Charities Chapters. To be eligible, students must be high school seniors. There are four scholarships offered through this program (note that not all chapters offer each scholarship). Students are only able to apply for one of the four scholarships. Students must intend to attend a two or four year college and have a minimum of a 2.7 GPA.
Most RMHC Chapters offer a minimum of $1,000 in scholarship awards to winning students.
What are the four scholarships offered?
1. RMHC Scholars Program
This scholarship program is open to all students regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, gender, disability, or national origin.
2. RMHC Asia Program
The RMHC Asia Program is for applicants who have at least one parent of Asian-Pacific heritage.
3. RMHC African-American Future Achievers
The Ronald McDonald House Charities African-American Futures Scholars Program is for students with at least one parent of African American or Black Caribbean heritage.
4. RMHC HACER Scholars
RMHC HACER Scholars is for students with at least one parent of Hispanic/Latino Heritage
How to apply for the RMHC Scholarship Program?
The scholarship application opens on October 1, 2016 and runs through January 18, 2017. The scholarship application can be found and completed online.
What will the Scholarship Committee be looking at?
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship Committee will be looking at the following criteria:
- Financial Need
- Community Involvement
- Essay
- Academic Achievement
When are applicants notified of their status?
Applicants are notified of their scholarship award status by June 16, 2017.
