The Ocean Awareness Contest is an opportunity for young people to learn about ocean issues through art-making and creative communication. Young people can become advocates for environmental action while exploring their own relationships with our world. There are many options as far as art genres, including visual art, film, music, poetry, prose, and interactive multimedia. In other words, this contest has you covered as far as art preference. The only thing you need to do is put your creativity to good use!
Who is eligible to enter the Ocean Awareness Contest?
This is a global contest, so students from around our connected world are invited to enter. There are two different divisions to enter based on your age at the time of entry:
- Junior Division: Age 11-14
- Senior Division: Age 15-18
There are a number of options as far as entering. Students can be part of a club, class, or group, or enter as an individual.
Finally, all students must also provide the contact information for an Adult Sponsor (teacher, parent, mentor, etc.).
How much are the prizes for the Ocean Awareness Contest?
Just as there are different divisions for submitting your creations, there are also a variety of prizes depending on which division you belong to:
Junior Division Senior Division
Gold Award $1,000 $1,500
Silver Award $750 $1,000
Bronze Award $250 $500
Honorable Mention $100 $250
In addition to the above prizes, there are regional prizes for students from Massachusetts.
Any way way you look at it, the prizes are pretty nice!
When is the deadline to submit for the Ocean Awareness Contest?
The last day to submit is June 14 2021.
