The Network for Enlightened Women (NeW) advertises itself as “the nation’s premier organization for conservative university women.” This year, they are offering the NeW Essay Contest to commemorate the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in August of 1920. This essay writing is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on one of the most monumental events in the history of our country.

The contest requires applicants to write a 600 to 750 response to the following prompt:
Last year was a historic year for women in America, with a record number of women elected to Congress, the election of our first female Vice President, and the fifth woman to ever be confirmed to the Supreme Court. These women represent a diversity of views and don’t all agree on issues. But they all blazed new trails for women. What do their achievements mean for the future of women in America? How does having women with different views and from different backgrounds benefit America? What issue(s) do you think all women should come together on to advance women? How can we encourage other countries around the world to support women in positions of power?
How much is the award for this contest?
The Network for Enlightened Women (NeW) will award two scholarships worth $500 each to a high school senior and also to a college student.
