The Network for Enlightened Women (NeW) advertises itself as “the nation’s premier organization for conservative university women.” This year, they are offering the NeW Essay Contest to commemorate the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution in August of 1920. This essay writing is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on one of the most monumental events in the history of our country.
Who is eligible to apply for the NeW Essay Contest?
- This contest is open to college students who are enrolled in a USA undergraduate institution
- Also open to high school seniors
- Applicants must be residents of the United States
- If under 18, a parent or legal guardian must enter on your behalf
- Finally, all applicants must be female!
The contest requires applicants to write a 600 to 750 response to the following prompt:
Women in America won the right to vote 100 years ago this month. Why is this historic moment worth celebrating? As women today, how can we ensure the women who fought for this right are never forgotten? Why is it important today that women are active in the political process and vote?
How much is the award for this contest?
The Network for Enlightened Women (NeW) will award two scholarships worth $500 each to a high school senior and also to a college student. The winners also have the opportunity to have their writing published, allowing their voices to be heard to a wide audience while making that resume all the more impressive!
When is the submission deadline for the essay contest?
