It is the perfect time of year for weather scholarships! The National Weather Association awards students in undergraduate and, in some cases, graduate programs majoring in meteorology or a related field. The National Weather Association offers multiple scholarships, so make sure that you allow yourself enough time to read them over and find the best match for you. Since the National Weather Association Scholarships have multiple due dates, bookmark the website and check often.
Who is eligible to apply for the National Weather Association Scholarships?
Most of the scholarships require that the undergraduate student is going into their sophomore year or higher in the fall. Again, not every scholarship has the same criteria, so read carefully.
Keep in mind that these are competitive scholarships with multiple components for each of the applications. This includes essays, transcripts, and multiple recommendations among other things. As you know by now, writing an essay that makes you “come to life” requires time and effort. Make sure that that you use lively examples that “show” who you are. Of course, proofread for spelling, grammar, and punctuation , and then do it again! Those recommendations will take time for your recommender, so make sure to plan accordingly. The website specifies that applications will be ranked against other applicants and the “quality” of the information provided. Put your best foot forward here, and give yourself plenty of time to do so!
What is the dollar amount of these weather scholarships?
Most of the scholarships are worth $1,000, and can be renewed yearly as long as the student is in good standing. There are a few that are worth up to $2,500 per year as well.
When are the applications due?
Completed applications are due on May 28, 2020.
