Today we are profiling a scholarship from the Geneseo Migrant Center, which is an organization that provides services to migrant farmers. One of the services they provide is the Migrant Farmworker Baccalaureate Scholarship. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must have completed at least one year of college. This is a really generous award that can extend to studies beyond the baccalaureate level. Specifically:
The award will provide up to $2,000 per year for a maximum of 3 years and, if needed, additional support not to exceed $2,000 per year for 3 years for repayment of approved educational loans accrued for post-secondary education resulting in a baccalaureate degree. The student has the option to apply for two additional years of financial assistance at the same level for graduate studies.
In addition to work as a migrant farmer (applicants must include a copy of their Migrant Education Certificate of Eligibility), applicants must include the following with their application packet:
- 3 letters of recommendation
- A personal essay of 500 words that discusses the applicant’s background, career, and future goals
- A copy of an applicant’s college transcript
- Documentation of financial need (tax return, school financial aid form, loans)
The scholarship application can be found online. All scholarships must be sent in by July 1, 2015 to:
