Lucky for Jane Austen lovers, the Jane Austen Society of North America sponsors the JASNA Essay Contest each year. In order to encourage the study and appreciation of Jane Austen’s incredible books, JASNA offers these generous awards. This year’s topic, “female “villains” in Austen’s novels,” is sure to be a popular one!
Who is eligible to enter the JASNA Essay Contest?
This essay contest is open to all high school, college, and graduate students. While the essay must be written in English, students from around the world are invited to apply. Since this is an essay contest, winners are chosen by the quality of their writing. The website states that “original insights and clear, correct writing” is what they are looking for. Essays should be six to eight pages in length, not including the works cited page. The website has additional specifics about exactly what is required, so be sure to check that out before you start writing. Happy writing, all!
