The Islamic Society of North America offers multiple scholarships that all have different eligibility requirements. Some of the scholarships are open to high school seniors and some are specifically offered to college students. A few of the scholarships are open to students from specific geographic areas such as Indianapolis. Additionally, there are major and career specific scholarships, including the Islamic Development Bank Loan Scholarships. These scholarships are offered primarily for students majoring in medicine and engineering but majors such as pharmacy, veterinary, dentistry, medical technology, and others will be considered. The Aziz Jamaluddin Scholarship is awarded is offered to journalism and/or political science students who will “speak out and communicate the true meaning of Islam in all types of media.” The Amana Mutual Funds Scholarship is offered to students majoring in economics, finance, or mathematics.
Finally, there are gender specific scholarships such as the Plainfield Muslim Women for a Better Society Scholarship.
In order to qualify for all the scholarships, applicants:
- Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Attending a US based accredited institution
In addition to these scholarships for students, there are scholarships that are offered to teachers: one full time Islamic School teacher and one weekend Islamic school teacher will be awarded $250 each to attend the Islamic Society of North America Education Forum.
How much are the Islamic Society of North America Scholarships worth?
The scholarships are worth from $250 to $60,000. A few of the scholarships, including the $15,000 Islamic Development Bank Loan Scholarship, are renewable every four years. Over 40 scholarships in total will be awarded!
When are the Islamic Society of North America Scholarship applications due?
While the scholarships all have different eligibility criteria, all of them are due March 15, 2020. Give yourself plenty of time to apply!
