“We need heroes today more than ever.” – T. A. Barron” The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes is an awesome opportunity for students ages 8 to 18. According to their website, “The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes celebrates inspiring, public-spirited young people from diverse backgrounds all across North America.” Each year, the Barron Organization generously rewards students who complete an extraordinary service activity that benefits our planet and all who inhabit it.
Who is eligible to apply for the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes?
The Barron Prize welcomes applications from public-spirited young people who are, on or before the April 15 deadline:
- between the ages of 8 and 18 (not yet age 19)
- permanent and current residents of the U.S.A. or Canada
- currently working on an inspiring service project or have done so within the past 12 months
- working as individuals to lead their service work. The Barron Prize does not accept applications from large groups of young people.
Remember to complete the service activity on your own. It cannot be completed as an assignment for school or work.
Finally, the Barron Prize does not discriminate against its applicants based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
How much is the Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes worth?
25 lucky students receive $10,000 for their education/projects, young hero materials, networking opportunities, and media coverage. In short, this award gives students access to the resources to take their projects/interests to the next level.
The deadline to apply for this scholarship is April 15, 2020 by 5:00PM MT. All applications must be submitted online. In early September of 2020, winners will be notified.
