Launched in 2001, Simil Raghavan and Mary Mathias started the Engineer Girl website in order to bring attention to the amazing opportunities open to women engineers. Even though more women are entering the engineering field, they are still underrepresented in the field. Perhaps you are asking why does this matter? Having a greater number of women in engineering encourages diversity of thought, which ultimately leads to innovation. Innovation drives economic growth, which ultimately makes for a better future for all of us. The Engineer Girl Writing Contest is a an amazing opportunity to be creative as you choose!
