Today’s scholarship is for students who love science, technology, engineering, and math. The DuPont Challenge Science Essay Competition is “North America’s premier science essay competition.” This scholarship is for students who are in grades 7-12. The Challenge poses the following question for students:
Are you passionate about the exciting world of science? Are you intrigued by the possibilities that the latest scientific ideas and developments may hold for our future?

What are the requirements for the essays?
Essays for this program should be between 700 and 1,000 words. They should also include a list of research sources.
What topics can I write my essay on?
Essays should fall under one of the following themes:
- Together, we can feed the world.
- Together, we can build a secure energy future.
- Together, we can protect people and the environment.
- Together, we can be innovative anywhere.

How much are the scholarship awards valued at?
There are two tiers of scholarship awards:
Senior Division (Grades 10, 11, and 12)
- First Place: $5,000 U.S. Savings Bond
- Second Place: $3,000 U.S. Savings Bond
- Third Place: $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond
Junior Division (Grades 7, 8, and 9)
- First Place: $5,000 U.S. Savings Bond
- Second Place: $3,000 U.S. Savings Bond
- Third Place: $1,000 U.S. Savings Bond
Each student who places also receives a trip to Florida among other prizes.
