The Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships are offered to “students showing dedication to the pursuit of degrees in diverse disciplines including history, law, nursing, and education.” Each year, the DAR awards over $150,000 through more than 25 scholarships to students for their outstanding academic achievements. This program is available to current college students as well as students who plan to attend college.
Who is eligible to apply for the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships?
There are only a few basic requirements for the all of the DAR Scholarships:
- All applicants must be citizens of the United States to apply for a scholarship
- Applicants must also attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the United States
While DAR chapter sponsorship is not a requirement, DAR encourages applicants to reach out to the DAR chapters in their areas for help with applications. There is a variety of criteria for the many scholarships, so allow yourself plenty of time to read through each beforehand. Essays, transcripts, and recommendations also take time, so check out the specific criteria for each scholarship that you qualify for. How much are the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships worth?
There are a variety of award amounts depending on the scholarship won. The amounts range from $1,000 to $5,000. Some of the scholarships are renewable for each of the four years students attend college!
When are the applications for the Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarships due?
Completed applications are due on varying due dates, so check each scholarship carefully! Most are due January 31, 2021.
