Crumley Roberts is a North Carolina law firm offers some great scholarship opportunities for students. The law firm will awarding four Founder’s scholarships worth $2500 each.
Who is eligible for this scholarship?
The Crumley Roberts Founder’s Scholarship is specifically for North Carolina high school students. To be eligible, students must plan on enrolling in a four-year college or university in the fall of 2015. While students need to be North Carolina high school students, they do not need to attend college in NC. Students must also have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA and be 18 years old by September 1, 2015. Employees of Crumley Roberts (and household relatives of employees) are not eligible for this scholarship.
What is required for the application?
In addition to the scholarship application, students must submit two recommendations. Recommendations should be from a teacher, counselor, or other adult who is familiar with your academics and/or extracurriculars.
What will the scholarship committee be looking at?
The essay is the “sole determinant” of the scholarship recipient.
Specifically, the essay will be judged with the following criteria:
- Originality: 40%
- Persuasiveness: 40%
- Clarity of Writing (spelling, grammar, flow, etc.): 20%
What are the essay guidelines?
Essays should not be longer than 1,000 words and should cite all sources. The essay topic is as follows:
At any given daylight moment across America, approximately 660,000 drivers are using cell phones or
manipulating electronic devices while driving, a number that has held steady since 2010.
(distraction.gov, NOPUS) Write an open letter to these drivers persuading them to stop using their
phones or electronic devices while driving.You are encouraged to use personal experiences and/or statistics to support your position.
When is the scholarship deadline?
The deadline for the Crumley Roberts Founder’s Scholarship Program is February 1, 2015.
