Career Aid for Technical Students (CATS)
The Career Aid for Technical Students Scholarship (CATS Scholarship for short) is through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation. The aim of this scholarship is to support students who are interested in vocational or technical careers (which is awesome, because the goals of many students do not make sense within the context of a four-year college).
Note that you only need to fill out ONE application to be considered for all of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation scholarship programs.
Who is eligible for the CATS Scholarship?
To be eligible, students should be planning to enroll in a vocational/technical program that does NOT lead to a four-year Baccalaureate degree (community college, technical school, trade school, a specific training program, etc. are all fine).
Additionally, applicants must:
- Have demonstrated financial need (and intend to apply for federal aid)
- Be legal residents of New Hampshire
- Be a dependent student under the age of 24
- Have a high school diploma/GED
- Plan to enroll at least half-time as a student
What will the scholarship committee be looking at?
The scholarship website puts it best: “Academic excellence is not a factor in selecting candidates for awards; however, we do expect students to demonstrate reasonable achievement and a commitment to their chosen field of study.”
What are the awards?
Scholarship awards will range from $100 to $3500 depending on financial need.
