In this episode, Stellic co-founder and CEO Sabih joins Scholarships360’s Will Geiger to discuss how higher education can better support students in planning and navigating their college journeys. As a first-generation college student from Pakistan, Sabih reflects on his own experiences at Carnegie Mellon. He describes how he learned to make decisions in an unstructured system, discovered the value of self-directed learning, and ultimately turned those challenges into the foundation for Stellic.
Sabih explains how Stellic began as a personal project to help him plan his courses and became a platform now used by over a million students to personalize their academic pathways, improve advising, and boost student success. He and Will explore how technology can empower both students and universities, helping institutions reduce attrition, support transfers, and plan resources more efficiently.
Finally, Sabih offers practical advice for students and families: make a plan (but be ready for it to change), think about outcomes rather than prestige, and embrace college as a space for growth, exploration, and lifelong connections.
Sabih Bin Wasi is the founder and CEO of Stellic, a student success platform transforming how universities help students plan and achieve their academic goals. As a student at Carnegie Mellon University, Sabih experienced firsthand how complex and confusing the higher education system can be for students trying to make the right choices about their paths. What started as a personal frustration with course planning evolved into a drive to reimagine how institutions support students through their most consequential years.
Under Sabih’s leadership, Stellic has grown from a student-built prototype at CMU to a comprehensive enterprise platform used by over 80 universities to streamline degree planning, advising, and academic operations. Sabih is energized by Stellic’s mission to enable 10 million student success stories, and as a lifelong learner at heart, he continues to approach every challenge with curiosity, creativity, and a deep belief in the power of higher education to transform lives.
