    Financial Aid: How to Apply

    Scholarships Overview

    Alvernia University offers a program that includes grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study financial aid funding sources. Our program is designed to provide assistance to families whose personal resources cannot meet the full cost of a student’s education. Therefore, financial aid is a supplement to your family’s own best efforts to contribute to your education. All merit scholarships are awarded upon acceptance to Alvernia University, upon the basis of academic achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership and integrity.

    Visit Award

    Visiting campus is a great way to learn more about the Alvernia Advantage! If you are applying for Fall 2025 and visit campus from September 6, 2024, through February 22, 2025, you will receive our $2,000 Visit Award which will be reflected on your annual financial aid offer letter.

    Catholic School Award

    This $1,000 award is offered to first-time, full-time first-year students graduating from a Catholic high school. It can be combined with other awards as well as incorporated into financial aid packages.

    Legacy Award

    Siblings that are enrolled full-time in the day academic division simultaneously or students who are referred by an Alvernia graduate are eligible for this award. The relationship between the Alvernia alumnus and the student is not limited to just family, but also extended to friends. The alumnus must submit the referral application via this online form. Students are required to meet satisfactory academic progress to be eligible. Award maximum is $1,000.

    Girl Scout Gold Award

    This new partnership expands educational opportunities for Girl Scouts across the region. The partnership includes up to $27,000 per year in merit scholarships for Girl Scouts in Eastern PA's nine-county footprint, renewable for four years.

    Theatre Award

    First-year students who enroll and continue in the Alvernia University Theatre major will be granted $1,000 per year. Students are required to meet satisfactory academic progress to be eligible.
