    Marist offers a wide range of merit and need-based scholarships. See below for a listing of scholarship opportunities provided by Marist.

    Merit Scholarships

    Marist awards merit scholarships, ranging from $10,000 to $25,000 a year, to its most academically competitive applicants. When you apply for admission to Marist, you are automatically considered for merit scholarships; there is no additional application.

    Alumni Scholarships

    Marist has always treasured our alumni as people who are making an impact around the world in their careers, in their communities, and with their families. Now, you have the opportunity to impact the next generation of Red Foxes. Effective Fall 2021, all children and step-children of alumni who enroll full-time at Marist will receive a $5,000 scholarship for each year for up to four years of their undergraduate experience at Marist.

    Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarships

    Marist University offers Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) scholarships to transfer students who are members of the official honor society at their local community college in the annual award amount of $5,000.

    Fusco Music Scholarship

    The Music Program cultivates music literacy, musicianship, individual creativity, and engaged citizenship through challenging learning experiences, diverse performance opportunities, and a commitment to providing music to both the campus community and many local organizations. $2,500.00 awards are available based on talent and technical merit.     Theatre Scholarship

    Incoming first-years accepted to Marist University may apply for a theatre scholarship. All students must complete the application requirements to be eligible for a scholarship award. Several renewable scholarships are available each year. $2,500.00 renewable awards are available.

    NCAA Athletic Scholarship

    Marist University sponsors NCAA Scholarships for 21 of Marist's 23 men's and women's Division I programs. Awarding these scholarships is in accordance with NCAA, Marist University, and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regulations. As per NCAA Division I rules, these athletic awards are one-year renewable scholarships (NCAA Bylaw 15.3.3). For details, please contact the respective head coach.

    Dollars for Scholars

    Marist University participates in the Dollars for Scholars Program which is conducted by the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America (CSFA) and will match up to $500 per recipient.

    Long Reach Scholarship

    The Long Reach Scholarship at Marist is awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional achievement in studying history. This scholarship is designed to give majors with a passion for history the opportunity and freedom to pursue exciting undergraduate research and apply it to their future careers. All incoming first-year students with an interest in history are eligible for one of four scholarship opportunities, and we encourage all who fit this criteria to apply and make a difference with their history degree from Marist.

    The Otto Sussman Trust Scholarship

    The Otto Sussman Trust offers financial awards to eligible undergraduate students at Marist University who, due to unforeseen financial hardship, require financial assistance in order to complete their degrees in their final year of study.

    The Jonah and Joan Sherman Scholarship for Volunteer Outreach

    The Jonah and Joan Sherman Scholarship for Volunteer Outreach was founded in 2010 by Bruce Sherman and Amy Sherman to honor their parents and their legacy as caring neighbors and citizens of the world. The scholarship’s purpose is to promote effective volunteerism by recognizing and financially aiding Marist students who follow in the footsteps of Jonah and Joan Sherman.

    Marist Brothers High Schools Scholarship

    Students graduating from Marist Brothers high schools in the United States or abroad, are eligible to receive the Marist Brothers Scholarship, effective Fall 2018. This $5,000 (USD) scholarship will be applied annually to tuition at Marist University for four years, provided that students attend full-time (at least 12 credits per semester) and remain in good academic standing.

    Endowed and Outside Scholarships

    Marist University Endowed Scholarships and Outside Scholarships are great potential resources to help off-set educational expenses. Traditional undergraduate students are invited to apply for Endowed Scholarship opportunities each spring for awards in the following academic year. A FAFSA on file for the upcoming academic year is required to be considered for any need-based endowed scholarships. Adult Endowed Scholarship Opportunities are also available through the application portal, with any inquiries to be directed to the Office of Student Financial Services.

    Using State Grants at Marist

    If you are a New York State resident considering Marist, be sure to investigate the TAP program. If you are attending a qualifying program and meet financial need requirements, you may receive thousands of dollars per year to put towards your education.     Admissions Overview

    From Marist

    Students interested in applying to Marist should rank in the top half of their graduating class and hold a recalculated average of 88-93 or 3.1 – 3.7. The quality and difficulty level of each class is taken into account as well. Leadership qualities and high school activities are also important. Candidates should meet the following minimum requirements:

    • 4 years of English
    • 3 years of Science
    • 3 years of Math
    • 3 years of History/Social Studies
    • 2 years of a foreign language

    Marist places the greatest emphasis on the high school transcript. SAT/ACT scores are not required. However, for applicants who choose to submit them, scores are usually between 1210-1360 SAT/ 26-31 ACT.

    • International students whose native language is not English are required to submit the Test of English as a Foreign Language (T.O.E.F.L.), International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo scores. In addition, students applying for our HEOP program are required to submit their SAT or ACT results.

    What is the application deadline at Marist?

    Students must apply by February 15 to enroll at Marist during the fall semester. Remember that college applications involve many pieces, including essays, a transcript, letters of recommendation, and more. Be sure to start your application as soon as you can to make sure you have enough time to make it as compelling as possible.
